JUNE 23-25 TRIP TO TARPON SPRINGS
WEEKEND IN TARPON SPRINGS
The Club tried something new last year and took a trip to Tarpon Springs’ Turtle Cove Marina. While some members spent the weekend, some drove up for a pool party on Saturday, and others stayed overnight stay Saturday night. In total we had six boats and 21 people enjoying all or part of the trip. It was so popular, we are doing it again this year, June 23-25 trip. It can be a day trip on the 24th, or an overnight weekend stay, for those that wish.
Turtle Cove Marina is fairly new and is located two blocks south of Dodecanese Blvd. which is the main shopping dining area. The marina has floating docks, a Clubhouse and bar, pool and tiki hut.
See more photos from our trip last year on our photo page.
FISH FRY IN THE PARK
FUN DAY IN THE PARK
The 3rd Annual IRB Boat Club Fish Fry will be held April 1st in Keegan-Claire Park (the one with the floating docks) in Indian Rocks Beach. The Fun starts at noon, with food serving at 1pm.
The cost of a fish fry dinner is $12 per person. Checks and cash only. Crabby Bill’s Seafood is once again doing the cooking. They will be serving: Southern Fried Local Sheepshead – Old Florida Cucumber Tomato Salad – Celery Seed Cole Slaw – Fries – Hush Puppies
Alcohol is allowed, but will not be sold, so bring your coolers. We will be selling sodas and water.
In addition to the food, there will also be games and a raffle. Bring a friend or two; everyone is welcome, you don’t have to be a member of the club or even own a boat. Plan to come by boat, car, golf cart or even bike.
RSVP: We need to tell Crabby Bill’s how many people are coming, so we will have enough food. If you think you will be there, please RSVP to IRBboatclub.com@gmail.com by Thursday so Crabby’s can prepare.
Last year, more than 60 members gathered to enjoy an afternoon of great food, games and a raffle which includes some boat related raffle items. See more photos from last year, on our photo page.

The Caladesi Picnic was moved by request so as not to conflict with St. Patrick’s Day Week-end.
ISLAND WAY GRILL BRUNCH
COMING SOON – FEBRUARY 11, 2018
Each Winter, the Boat Club goes to Island Way Grill on Island Estates to indulge in their fabulous Sunday afternoon brunch. They have several floating docks. We normally sit together outside on the south patio. This is always our most popular event and starts with champagne and bloody Mary’s and oh so much food, then ends with a visit to the dessert room. If you have never been there for Sunday Brunch, it is a must do.
You MUST RSVP for this event by
Friday, Feb. 9 via phone (727) 430-8300 or e-mail: IRBboatclub@gmail.com
Try to be there at 11 am so they can sit us all together. Last year, more than 70 members enjoyed the fabulous day outside on the south patio. They have floating docks off of Mandalay Channel; first come-first docked. Since this is such a popular event, try to double up on boats so we will have enough slips. Fill your boats and bring your friends; they do not have to be members.
See photos of all the fun we have had at this brunch on our Photo page.
2018 SPRING INTRACOASTAL CLEAN UP
March 17
Volunteers will gather at the 15th Avenue boat ramp at 8 AM and are back to the boat ramp by about 10 AM for a group photo with all your finds, for our local papers.
It’s enjoyable to get out on the water early and to visit some islands and areas that people rarely see. Plus we always find interesting things. Join in even if you don’t have a boat (or don’t want to use yours). Bring gloves and shoes or sneakers that can get wet. A hat is advisable too.
We will provide the trash bags, water, and some grabbers. If you are not arriving by boat, come by car or bike to the boat ramp. After the clean-up, expect to have some eats supplied by IRB.
John Pfanstiehl is organizing the clean-up. Please RSVP by calling John at 727-642-4715.
Last minute show-ups are welcomed too. We could use a couple of more boats that are willing to get dirty too. (Bill Thomas and John Pfanstiehl have already volunteered their boats.)
TRIP TO TARPON SPRINGS TURTLE COVE MARINA
We are planning our May 4-6 trip to Tarpon Springs. It can be a day trip on the 5th, or an overnight weekend stay, for those that wish.
There will be more details coming soon, but right now, they have 5 slips available that weekend. If you plan to go, RESERVE YOURS NOW! Those going need to RSVP with me (via e-mail IRBboatclub@gmail.com) and call the marina directly: Turtle Cove Marina (727-934-2202). Day slips are not reservable and are available on a first come basis.
AFTERNOON AT SALT ROCK GRILL – APRIL EVENT

FEBRUARY’S ISLAND WAY GRILL
Each Winter, the Boat Club goes to Island Way Grill on Island Estates to indulge in their fabulous Sunday afternoon brunch. This year was no exception. We sat together on the patio, and indulged in champagne, bloody Mary’s and oh so much food.
