Our FIRST Island Party of the year!
Our End Of Summer Island party is so popular, we added a second one this year – the Boat Club’s Summer Kick Off island party.
Held on the small island at the north end of Indian Rocks Beach, just south of the Belleair Causeway, we had a community grill and pot luck dinner.
May Fish Fry in Keegan Clair Park
The IRB Boat Club held ts first ever Fish Fry in Keegan Clair Park. Over 80 people attended and 60 fish dinner, supplied by Crabby Bill’s were sold.
The group enjoy an afternoon of great food, games and a raffle which included some boat related raffle items including:

April Weekend in the Caladesi State Park Marina
Six boats spent the night in the marina which was hosting two boat clubs and a special children’s event. After a morning on the beach, the club members enjoyed an afternoon cookout with about 35 members. Two of our members, Suzanne Thayer and Ann Holmes, were celebrating birthdays.
Those that stayed the second night enjoyed a beautiful sunset and campfire.

Did you know the BP / Horizon Oil Spill was five years ago?
It is estimated over 60,000 barrels of oil per day, for 87 days, leaked into the Gulf. In total, over 5 million barrels of oil were release covering 68,000 square miles – an area the size of Oklahoma. After it was capped, the Gulf’’s bottom was still covered with oil and 2 million gallons of Corexit Oil Dispersant. Is oil still there? Where is the dispersant? What is the effect on us and the marine life? Will a tropical storm impact the remaining oil?
At the March Boat Club meeting the special guest speaker was Monica Wilson, Ph.D. an Oil Spill Research Specialist working for Florida Sea Grant with the Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative (GoMRI) under a $500 million grant, is conducting a 10-year research program. Monica, who gave a great presentation, is one of five studying the Gulf of Mexico. She represents the cities along the Florida Coast. They are studying the marine environment and public health issues from the oil spill.
March, Saturday Afternoon at Salt Rock Grill
Close to 30 people, braved the cool temperatures and cloudy skies for a great afternoon at Salt Rock Grill. Two boats decided to venture out in the wind, while everyone else came by car or trolley. The restaurant put out a huge, free buffet that included fried calamari, shrimp quesadillas, meatballs, onion straws and much more. In fact, everyone had so much fun eating and drinking, we forgot to take photos until the end of the event. Thank you to everyone who joined in the fun and a BIG thank you to Salt Rock Grill and their staff for once again a great time.
February, Sunday Brunch at Island Way Grill
Close to 50 people, indulged in this fabulous brunch on a sunny warm Sunday Funday afternoon at Island Way Grill. This is always our most popular event and starts with champagne and bloody marys and oh so much food and ends with a visit to the dessert room. Thank you to everyone who joined in the fun and a BIG thank you to Island Way Grill and their staff for once again a great time.
January, an Afternoon at The Pub
About 35 people, some familar faces and a few new ones, had a fun afternoon of food and drinks. Thank you everyone who came out for our January event and thank you also to The Pub, and staff for a great time. We will have the Coast Guard Aux. come to another event since so many left their boats behind due to wind.
